Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Pat M. Curd on December 20, 2012:

Billy Black was one year behind me in high school and a fellow member of Boy Scout Troop 41 in Dyer, TN. He and I were in competition toward achieving the Eagle Scout Rank. We along with another Scout named Charles Gilliland made Eagle Scout at the same time. Billy was an outstanding young man and one who enjoyed our Scouting experiences together. I became a Marine and made a career of the Corps and unfortunately our paths did not cross after I saw him in his senior year at Dyer High. I was so proud to learn of his appointment to West Point because I knew he would be a success and a credit to The Long Gray Line. I wish we could have connected while in RVN on our first trip but we were worlds apart and did know that each of us were in the same country.

I salute you my dear friend and God bless your family. I am honored that I was able to read of your career today.

Semper Fidelis,
Pat M. Curd
