Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Dave Bodde on July 29, 2021:
Ron and I were friends and classmates in high school.
When we discovered we had both been accepted into the Class of 1965, we immediately began training for the experience that would begin on 5 July, 1961. Ron was on the wrestling team, and I ran on the track team. But in all the miles we logged, I do think Ron proved the better runner.
I recall his Dad on the back porch of the Bailey home teaching me how to do left face, right face, and about face and to get myself pointed in the right direction most of the time...Ron already knew.
We rarely saw one another after walking through the sallyport that fateful day, and the loss was mine. Ron was a good friend and a great human being. He brought strength and encouragement to all who crossed his path. This world is a diminished place without him.
May the "...Great Friend and Master of men..." grant him peace and rest.
