I did not know Mike during school. He was in First Regiment. I was in Second Regiment. But after graduation, we both ended up in the 101st Airborne Division and in late 1965 found ourselves in need of Ranger buddies at Fort Benning, Georgia. So Mike and I became wedded at the hip for that first phase of Ranger training. We thought we were already tough. We learned otherwise and found strength from one another. Mike was a terrific guy. He will be missed. Mike, be thou at peace. |
