| Though many years have now passed by since I, with a heavy heart, read of the death of Doug in 'Nam. I was stationed in Germany at the time remember that day as yesterday when I read In Army Times of his death. I felt then as I do now, and have many times over the years, a deep sadness over losing a close friend from Bisbee High. We were both on the track team. He was a true friend and gentleman. I, an ROTC graduate from the U of A, followed him to Viet Nam in 1968 with the Big Red One and thought of him often during my time there in '68-'69. Doug, you will always be remembered by me with the deepest respect and fondness. |
