Be Thou At Peace

Posted by G. Jerry Merges on September 30, 2011:

Bill was a great guy, a lot of fun to be around, and an awesome athlete. We endured the sadistic plebe year in D-1 as only those who survived can attest- a war of wills with those of '63.

I remember encountering Bill in plebe boxing as we were divided by weight - the weight we had started Beast Barracks, not the finishing weight. Bill hit me so hard I actually saw stars and clinched Bill for dear life until the cobwebs cleared.

Bill always had a positive attitude and was a great encourager to all. I followed his career through our class notes in the Assembly and know he brought the same attitude and winning spirit to all his endeavors.

His lovely wife Betty and their children were blessed to have shared his life and will continue to be blessed as they remember his love for them.

Bill will be missed by all of his classmates and teammates but we too will be warmed with memories of a warrior and friend.
