Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bub Pickup on July 29, 2019:

Steve and I were roommates one year at good old H2. Although I have never communicated with Steve since we graduated I have always considered him to be a good friend. I have often told stories to friends about Steve. Steve had a great sense of humor, was always willing to help (when he wasn't walking off punishment tours) and was TRUE to Country, girl friend MOLLY (I think that is right) and to the GREAT STATE of NORTH CAROLINA (GOD'S Country). He was also true to himself and his friends. This easy going southern boy was fun to hang out with. It was clear that he wanted to be a marching soldier. He spent many Saturday's practicing putting on his dress uniform and going to walk his punishment tours. Turns out that the Academy had to change the way Punishment tours where run because Steve got caught sneaking out by ducking down one of the stairways into the basement. Who would dare to try this? Yes, he earned many more hours for this creative tactic. Many evening in our room Steve sat with his feet on his desk smoking his pipe with the cherry blend tobacco, with a smile on his face an good thoughts in his heart. Steve, may God enjoy your company and friendship as much as I did.
