| In addition to being classmates, Duncan and I were childhood friends, starting in 4th grade when our fathers (USMA '39 and '41) were assigned to the 7th Army Engineer School in Murnau, Germany. It was an idyllic time and place where our life long bonds (as well as the enduring friendships our respective parents enjoyed for many years) took root. I will forever remember Duncan for his unwavering friendship and for being among the very few who truly succeeded in living up to the ideals of West Point. |
