| Fred was in Company E-1 as a Plebe and Yearling. Having him as a company-mate made life easier for the rest of us since the upperclassmen took such pleasure in asking him to recite Plebe Poop so they could listen to his Harlan County, Kentucky drawl. The same thing would happen in Spanish class when the instructor would repeatedly come back to Fred to respond, again to enjoy that rich and distinctive drawl. We will dearly miss this great soldier who had the heart of a lion, but a kind and gentle soul. |
