Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tommy Thompson on October 31, 2021:

I barely knew S.T.E.P. at West Point, so I had to drag (literally these days) out our yearbook to identify him. I have great admiration for Step and the other guys who have assumed the (to me) monumental task of assembling and disseminating all the input and information that keeps our class informed.

His eloquent pre-prepared Eulogy was excellent! Hope mine goes over as well 20 or so years from now.

His work has really helped me regain contact with my class and old friends, and invoked memories of those hard, but good times. Maybe some nightmares, too.

Since my wife of 44 years, Penny, died, I have been rummaging through old West Point memorabilia and raiding Amazon for stuff I didn't have, wearing Army West Point T-shirts, and displaying decals, license plate frames, banners and pennants. I got reservations for both of us at the WP Cemetery Wall. I think I've inundated the rest of the class with postings of old photos, showing my "stuff" and where to get it. Thank you Step and fellow scribes for putting up with that and helping me regain my pride in our joint heritage. Requiescat in Pace, save me a seat at the bar- (based on the other eulogies, I'll really need a reservation). Vodka Martini, Shaken, not Stirred, or a Bud will do...
