When I was USMA 1965 Scribe, news from Bruce always produced a sense of weariness - not intellectual fatigue, for his inputs were always entertaining and well written but, rather, physical, because Bruce dedicated himself to the sort of activity that was well beyond the abilities and proclivities of the majority of his Classmates, however healthy they considered themselves to be. I suppose that there is a poetic aspect to his having died doing something he loved, but poetry be damned! I would far rather that he were still with us. Step |
