| I knew Don from L-1 plebe year, as a reliable and caring friend who would do anything to help a classmate, and whose sense of humor lifted everyone who knew him. I remember his camaraderie with Ron Walter and Joe DeFrancisco in particular, and his love for his family, but especially the care of his loving wife Carol through many years.When we had the pleasure of serving together at West Point, Don's reputation for integrity, love for others, professionalism and hard work, and even fishing, made him a much sought after companion. We all wish we had more time with Don, but cherish the sure knowledge that we will one day be reunited. Don, thanks for your loving friendship, and Carol, thanks for loving and caring for Don. May our Lord sustain you and the Appler family as you heal, remembering the good times. |
