Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tommy Thompson on May 12, 2017:

I second Bob Axley's kind comments about Donny. As a company-mate at I-2 we had a lot of contact and I considered him one of my best friends. He and several of our I-2 and other WP reprobates whose names will be withheld to protect the guilty, had many adventures in and around West Point, New York City, and other venues. My favorite recollection of Donny was our group trip to Minneapolis for the Minnesota-Army game in 1963. He and I were assigned to the same Fraternity for lodging and they showed us a royal time. We were able to observe "real" college life and were allowed to mingle with the natives. Donny introduced me to their homecoming queen candidate. Smitten, I flew / hitch-hiked to Minneapolis that spring to see her. Thanks Donny!!

A couple of years ago, I posted a comment about Donny's picture nominating him for the "Dorian Grey" award because of his youthful appearance. I too, noticed the change in more recent photos. Hopefully he did not suffer too much in the end.

My condolences to his wife and family. R.I.P. Donny......l
