I met Ladd while he and I were on the rifle team. The things I remember most were his unfailing sense of humor and his ability with a rifle. He was quite competitive, but never let that interfere with friendship. His easy laugh and ability to find humor in almost situation were characteristics that were infectious. Even after a bout with pneumonia he found something with which to brighten the spirits of everyone. I can remember us all roaring as he read a letter from home about a five inch rain....that hit Phoenix, Arizona ! My prayer is that his ability to not take himself too seriously blessed him throughout his short life. I know it had to bless others. Dr. Edward Dye South Dakota Prairie |
