Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Thomas Jay Hayes Attride on November 11, 2015:

Happy Veterans Day uncle. I was named after you but we never met. Our entire family never stopped mourning you. Time has changed and many of your fellow soldiers and friends have passed, granny and granddaddy are buried next to you behind the cathedral at West Point, the gymnasium is named after you, so much has changed but I just want to thank you for dying for your fellow soldiers and our country. You were and always will be my personal hero and a hero to those that read your story of selflessness. I am sorry that I never met you but I love you with my whole heart and thank you for giving your life for the betterment of others and this world. I am proud to be your blood, I am proud to have your name. Happy Veteran's Day uncle Tommy.
