Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Lawrence A. Hagemann on September 28, 2010:

Mike Grisafe and I were friends long before he joined the military. We were "best buds" in the few years that I knew him in Peoria, IL...grade school. My memory of him is of a very spirited and energetic 4th grader who was very excited about life. Of the very few 8mm recordings I have of that time, he is in most of them! Three of us were buddies. The other member of the group, Fr. Bill Carpenter, died last year of a heart attack. Of the group of three from this era, only I am left. My memories of Mike are from a long time ago, long before he became the man and gentleman recognized by his fellow servicemen. He died in support of our country in a war that was horribly supported back home. I remember him and stop by the memorial in DC whenever I get to the area. May he rest in eternal peace.
