Allen Culpepper was my best friend in high school and we remained friends until his death. Allen was a remarkable gentleman and a dear friend. Thanks to his encouragement, I went to college and later received a PhD in Psychology. After all these years, I still mourn the loss of my friend. He had the potential to serve his country in many ways and I regret that he did not survive the Viet Nam war. When my first son was born, I insisted that he be named Allen to keep Allen Culpepper's memory alive in my heart. I know I would not be where I am today if I had not know this man. He was like a brother to me. Rest in peace, Allen, and know that your legacy remains alive in my heart and in the hearts of my children.
