Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Benefield on September 5, 2008:

Allen Culpepper was my best friend in high school and we remained friends until his death. Allen was a remarkable gentleman and a dear friend. Thanks to his encouragement, I went to college and later received a PhD in Psychology. After all these years, I still mourn the loss of my friend. He had the potential to serve his country in many ways and I regret that he did not survive the Viet Nam war. When my first son was born, I insisted that he be named Allen to keep Allen Culpepper's memory alive in my heart. I know I would not be where I am today if I had not know this man. He was like a brother to me.

Rest in peace, Allen, and know that your legacy remains alive in my heart and in the hearts of my children. They know your story, they, like me, consider you to be a personal hero.
Peace, my brother.
