Be Thou At Peace

Frank Meszar III was born on July 18, 1944 and joined the Armed Forces while in East Chicago, Illinois.

He served as amn Infantry Officer in the United States Army. In two years of service, he attained the rank of Captain. He began a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam on January 7, 1968.

On March 2, 1969, at the age of 24, Frank Meszar III perished in the service of our country in South Vietnam, Tay Ninh.

Captain Meszar, who graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1966, was the son of Frank Metsar, Brigadier General, United States Army (USMA 1940), and served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade and the 2/12 Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division from 7 January 1968 until his untimely death on 2 March 1969. He was buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.

During his career, he was the recipient of the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Combat V Device, the Air Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.
