Frank Meszar

West Point, 1966

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Kenneth G. Carlson on March 13, 2013:

Frank Meszar and I attended the same grade school and high school in Alexandria, Virginia and were classmates at West Point in the Class of 1966.

Frank was a quiet and unassuming man, not very well known among his secondary school classmates. We were surprised to learn that he would attend West Point.

His name is inscribed not only on the Vietnam Memorial Wall, but also on the memorial benches at the Rocky Versace Memorial at Mount Vernon Elementary School in Alexandria. He was killed in action on 2 March 1969, one day after I was wounded in action. Early March was not a good time for the boys from GW High.
