I had the honor and joy to work with--at the time--COL Ray Winkel in London at the US Army International Technology Center. Ray brought a smile to everyone's face. Ray was both a dedicated teacher of science and a soldier at heart. He saw the benefits of research in helping soldiers stay safe and win the fight. He encouraged me to always seek out challenges and maintain a positive attitude. Ray was humble at heart and loved his amazing and energetic wife Sally.
