I have mixed emotions about Claude’s passing. I am somewhat angry with him for living his life in a manner that always seemed to “push the envelope.” On the other hand, I am extremely proud of Claude for approaching life in an ever present “leaning forward position.” He was my hero, he was my mentor, he was my confidant, he was my caretaker and inspiration throughout my time as an aide to Senator Dole as well as numerous deployments…always writing to me to “be careful and not try to be a hero”, and he was my friend and will miss him. I am a better man for having known Claude. God Bless Claude and his family. “Rangers Lead the Way” (RLTW) and when the Good Lord calls for me I want to follow the path my dear friend Claude has taken. Semper Fidelis. Ernie Garcia |
