Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jeff Wilcox on October 15, 2012:

Tom Brennan was our FO in A Co 2/506 and we hit it off immediately. When I was promoted, Bill Pahissa took my place. He had requested A Co because he knew Tom was the FO. Unfortunately, Tom was moved to a battery on FSB Ripcord just as Bill arrived. I met Bill briefly and learned that he had been killed during the horrific assault on our AO as the firebase was overrun. Several NVA divisions up against our under strength brigade. At the time we were lucky to have forty people in a company, since the watch word was "avoid American casualties." In subsequent reunions of Ripcord veterans I have learned that Bill was greatly respected by his men and the officers in the company.
