Be Thou At Peace

I didn't know Tom as a cadet as we were in different regiments. I got to know him in Airborne, Ranger and Artillery basic schools. Tom was a guy of tremendous character and strength. He seemed to always care for his classmates as we struggled through our training. I remember being on patrol in the swamps in Florida. Tom waited by a watery trail to ensure we all passed by. I was dog tired and Tom gave me words of encouragement that got me through that I remember to this day. And there were fun times too at Ft. Sill. Tom had a great sense of humor that often showed itself in games of charades after a libation or 3. I was saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I know that the world and my life are better for Tom's passing through it. Jerry |
