Kurt was one of a kind --- as a professional in every endeavor undertaken. I first met Kurt and Cher in 1985 when he was assigned as liaison officer on the staff of the Office of the Project Manager, Saudi Arabian National Guard Modernization Program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In that capacity he was the key interface with his fluent Arabic skills serving two Project Managers Brigadier General Paul Schwarz and Major General William Riley. He not only served as the Project Managers interpreter/translator with their military counterparts but with the House of Saud Family with the then Crown Prince Abdullah. Throughout his tour, he assisted me in the performance of my duties as Deputy Project Manager -- working with our Contractors, Vinnell Corporation responsible for military training of the National Guard and Hospital Corporation of America responsible for management of the King Fahd Hospital. With Cher, he played a key role in the management of our three villa compounds insuring a suitable life style to all assigned personnel, both military and civilian. He concluded his tour with accolades from all assigned. Throughout his service career, his performance was to excellence --- as attested to his attendance at the Industrial War College and Promotion to Colonel. I have kept in contact with Cher and Kurt through his years of service and life after service --- as a valued friend, who as no surprise excelled in every undertaken assignment. I will miss him.
