Be Thou At Peace

Posted by James Coffey on August 25, 2020:

Jim was a truly amazing one-of-a kind person. I have never known anyone so fully knowledgeable about sports and movies. It was the lucky plebe to have Jim at their table when trying to stump the upper classmen on trivia- it was a guaranteed fallout since Jim could out-trivia anyone. He knew the batting averages of anyone of note BY YEAR or any other trivial fact you could come up with. I remember he took a film course as an elective and he ran circles around the instructor- he should have been teaching the course. Although Jim was shower-challenged in the early days of his cadet career, he was always very conscious of others and never criticized other cadets in my hearing. Always positive and upbeat, Jim was a pleasure to room with. It seemed like he coasted through the four years effortlessly- as he did in life- and who would have expected Jim to retire as a full-bird? Go figure. Jim was a great guy and I am the better for having known him. Be Thou at Peace, Dunph! We will miss you!
