Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Robert J. Kuelzow on November 6, 2009:

There is not much I can add to my good friend Kenny Powell's comments below, but only to say again what a truly special person Billy was. I was over in Germany with the 1/37 Armor when I heard of the tragic event and it still effects me and saddens me to this day. Seldom does a week go by without something that reminds me of Billy... there are so many fond memories of him. We miss you Billy... but know you are in a better place... SAO

Billy Hubbard was indeed "good people," as Dave Graham says. I've thought of him often, and not two weeks ago was telling someone of his story (Iuka, MS, had been mentioned in a conversation, and my thoughts had immediately gone to Billy). He was truly one destined for "stars," and his untimely death was a tremendous loss for not only all those who knew and loved him, but for the country he so proudly and honorably served as well. I will never forget Billy Hubbard---individuals like him are few and far between, and can never be forgotten. That is perhaps the greatest legacy any of us could hope to leave. Be thou at peace, Billy--job well done. Ken Powell
