Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Phil Castaneda CW3, Ret on May 22, 2003:

The mood of the Battalion (HHD) was a festive one as we busily prepared for our redeployment and the remaining personnel to return from Iraq. As we were gathered at 2100 hours, with the Chaplin and XO awaiting Rocky's soldiers to form up the mood grew somber.

The news of the loss of such a leader as Rocky, sadden and shocked the Battalion. His loss was saddly felt from Kuwait to Northern Iraq, from Private to Geneneral, from GS to contractor personnel, as his influence, guidance and leadership touched many.

Our hearts are heavy, yet in his honor and the professional standards he demanded, his company's (226th Maint. Co., the 588th Maint Co., 15th Trans Co.) continue in the service of thier country in Iraq.

He was always a professional who demanded and would only except the very best from his soldiers.

Our prayers and thoughts are always with you.

Respectfully,

Phil Castaneda CW3, Ret
