| I had the honor and pleasure to serve under then First Lieutenant Bates when we both served in Greece in 1988. He was the epitome of a West Point officer, but I soon learned in those 10 months what depth he had as a person. Finding out about his love for acting, but learning that he like I enjoyed silly science fiction novels. As I said before, he was the model officer, but he was a much better person than an officer. You are remembered........Sir. |
