| Tommie's death was particularly saddening for me because I remember how much talent and promise he had. Who else as a cadet had to convince a Tac officer to give him leave to see a play he had written being produced in the Big Apple? (The sad thing is that at least once he wasn't given that chance; now we will never know if he would have been the next Neil Simon.) He was a hard critic of my writing and I would thank him for it now although I couldn't at the time. His was our first class loss I felt a real connection to, and I will miss him. |
