| Tom and I were in the same plebe company. Many a time I can remember hearing "Go Frogs!" shouted down through the division stairwell by "Mr. Bates". Though we did not agree on the politics of most things I always enjoyed the intelligence of Tom's arguments and the passion he showed. Needless to say he usually won which was O.K. He made me thing more deeply on things then I might otherwise have. That is never a bad thing. As for his writting, I was honored to read several of his drafts and to know a little more about what was inside Tom. He will be missed. |
