Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Thomas Dunn on March 7, 2006:

I met Wayno our freshman year in high school. We both played football and both played fullback. We became fast friends that season and remained so until the day he passed away. Throughout high school, Wayne was the Big Man on Campus - the best-looking, smartest, funniest, nicest guy in school. While Wayne had hands of steel, he had a heart of gold that shone through every day.

We had our twentieth reunion four years ago. People I hadn't seen since graduation all mentioned Wayne and what a huge void replaced his life. He was the kind of man who touched everyone in a way we probably could not understand, or appreciate, at the time. I miss him. I miss the person he was and the man he never got the chance to be.

I hope I was as good a friend to you Wayno, as you were to me.
