I met Charlie the night before R-day in the Hotel Thayer lobby. I knew right away that he was a great guy. Beast started the next day, and I didn't see him again until reorgy week, when we were both wound up in G1. Charlie shared a room with Ed McCabe (and a 3rd person I think it was Mike Grimaldi, a lax player from upstate NY, but it's been 25 years so who knows), another big football player from Texas. Both Charlie and Ed would get these huge Texas-sized boodle boxes big enough to feed the whole company. That was always good for a laugh just seeing the size of these things. They never failed to share them, either. I was shocked and saddened to hear of the crash that day that took our classmates from us. You are surely missed. |
