Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Will Duke on December 20, 2013:

Lee Smith was a good man, a loving husband and a doting father. I first got to know Lee during our Buckner summer and we both ended up in C-1 after the scramble and then we were later together in a 3 man room along with Tony Hylton. Never at a loss for words -- Lee always had a keen sense of situational observation certain to be followed up with comments that reflected his dry wit and uncanny ability to summarize the preceeding situation in probably 5 words or less. Lee Smith was an original -- a genuine, amiable, hard working but fun-loving guy that all of us liked to be around. He kept us real and always infused our social gatherings with great humor and a simple love for having a good time. I know that our gang has great memories of Lee from our cadet days in Lee Barracks, weekend trips to NYC, summer trips to Myrtle Beach and the annual Army-Navy weekend. Lee will be sorely missed by all of us and I pray that Karri Lynn and Lee's entire family will find peace and comfort in knowing how much he meant to all of us. Rest in peace my good friend Lee -- I will see you on the other side.
