Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Scott Shubert on January 14, 2017:

For those of you that don't know me - my name is Scott Shubert - Marc was my step-brother.

Today is a day of turning tragedy to a positive message. Today I pray for family healing. Today I pray for Family Unity. Today I pray for a closeness to God, not a distancing - its easy to distance ourselves from God and family when we experience tragedy. Why God, why did we lose this man...we may not know the answer...but we will try. Today - we remember why we love Marc.

If Marc's earthly self were here right now, he would have a few jokes and a warm comment. I remember when Grandma Madeline passed away - Gram to those in the know...Marc talked about his Grandmother as he knew how and how he remembered her - the fun parts - positive, encouraging ..kinda like K-love. You see - its not that Marc never had hard times but man, was it hard to see it. He knew how to look at the bright side.

He was Funny...he would not like it if this discussion was doom and gloom...but its hard, right? Because we grieve - because heaven's gain is our loss.

As the old commercials go..I don't want to be like Mike..I want to be like Marc. In preparing for this, I tried to absorb the outpouring of love for him that I observed..one friend said "he took extra care of the young kids, never too good for us".. Someone else said "he filled a room" and that statement was not because he competed in the "Clydsdale" division in the Triathalons he raced in..its because his personality..WOW...what a big personality..it takes guts to film a work video in 1964 era Superman tights...

Today I pray for family - today I pray for unity - guys if we let the busyness of our lives take over, we will miss the opportunity to love each other. Don't let another tragedy such as this occur before we realize what's important. Don't let petty things get in the way of your love for one another.

Today - I pray for Marc - as he looks down upon us, drinking a Sprite, catching that touchdown pass - making a goofy joke - flashing that million dollar smile - Godspeed..
