| Marty was my XO over in Korea from 1992 to 1993. He made it all look so easy - he was an outstanding officer. There was no doubt in my mind, or in anyone else's that Marty was destined for the Army's highest ranks. When he PCS'd from Germany to Korea, his Battalion Commander wrote a letter to our BC (I know this b/c I was friends with our S-1) - it said to give Marty the most challenging position because he was clearly a "water-walker." Before he left Korea he was given a company command - before the advanced course. He loved his soldiers and he loved the Army - he made it all worthwhile. Rest in peace my friend. |
