| This August, as a MiTT chief, I moved with almost no notice with my Iraqi unit to East Baghdad. It was fast and furious. I did not know anyone as I was attached rather quickly to a new unit, the 506th RCT. As I look back on those hot and difficult days, LTC Finken stands out as a positive and friendly face. I usually sat next to him at planning meetings and commanders' updates. There was an unmistakable smile and contageous friendly aura around him all the time, hard to find these days in East Baghdad. His positive and infectious leadership during those days will always be with me as defining characteristics of a great combat leader. WELL DONE. Be thou at peace. MOHAWK 6, '95 |
