James J. Walton

West Point, 1989

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Roy E. Alston on June 28, 2008:

When I got the news about Jim all the memories from our time at West Point came rushing back. Jim and I were in G-4 together. Though I have not spoken to Jim for several years, it seems like yesterday when we were saying good bye and shaking hands as we all departed West Point for our military assignments. I am drawn to the words Scott Morrison wrote in the Class of 1989 yearbook about the legacy of a soldier. Jim accepted the challenge. There is no doubt that Jim with his record of selfless service to this nation sleeps in peace. A soldier's legacy is Jim's legacy and LTC James J. Walton's legacy will forever be held in a place of honor in our hearts and in the heart of a grateful nation.
