John Hallett

West Point, 2001

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Neil Stratton on August 30, 2009:

I never met John, but I thank God for his life and for his service.

I also wanted to say to his friends and loved ones that, at some point, you may wonder if he died in vain (or may be asked if he did by some callous person). I want you to know that he did not, and that his memory will live on as the hero he was. To many, the reasons we fight -- not just to protect our ideals, but to force them, if we must, on oppressors so their victims may know true liberty -- are outdated, corny, or the product of hidden imperialism.

I want you to know that is not true. Our fight is the right one -- and we will win. After all, we are fighting for truth, honor and freedom, while the evil ones are fighting to stop each of these values.

May God bless you all in the days ahead, and once again, thank you for his service.
