Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tommy and Ashley Hellyer on February 15, 2005:

After reading some of the eulogies, it has become obviously apparant to me why Joe has been taken from us so prematurely. Everyone wants him around at all times. Joe gave those of us lucky enough to be at his wake a big piece of himself, to let us know that he did not go very far. He provided a the biggest double rainbow I have ever seen. I was impressed by the magnitude and speed in which he delivered his message. I am proud to have met Joe's family and seen his hometown come together in his memory.

I met Joe only a few times, but since the first day we met I felt connected to him. I said to myself "this is my kind of person, serious about his work/passion and serious about his play." I don't think I ever got any sleep around Joe. Joe was instantly part of the Hellyer family and fit right in. I know he will always be a part of our parties. I personally see Joe up in heaven flying his appache helicopter protecting those he loves and those in need. Thanks for your dedication to our country. Thanks for showing my sister Jodi what it is like to love. Thanks to all those lives you have touched along the way, including my own.

With love Tommy and Ashley Hellyer
