Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Greg Collins on March 19, 2004:

I was always in awe of Mike's patient dedication to whatever he was working on, be it his Ford Explorer, his collection of fly-fishing flies or searching out the best spot for turkey hunting. I remember all the long hours he spent working on the Explorer, and he always maintained a positive attitude while he worked on the 4x4 system, or replaced the fuel tank. He maintained his cool while working for hours on the most frustrating, detailed projects.
Mike's optimistic approach to problem-solving translated into a unique dedication to improving and supporting his subordinates once he was a platoon leader. He was there to help his soldiers hone their combat skills, or set their personal lives in order whenever necessary. He improved whatever he came across, including me. Goodbye, Mike.
