Mark Andess Garner

West Point, 2002

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Donna DiBiase on July 9, 2009:

Our deepest sympathy and prayers for Mark, his wife, and all of the family. His passion for his country is evident to even those who did not know him personally (such as us). As a new cadet parent, I find myself in awe of what soldiers like Mark, cadets, and families truly put aside for love of their country. And the immense feeling of pride and patriotism you feel in return. I'm sure Mark felt that pride. And as a newbie I so appreciate the Army family - I have heard these words before..and did not truly understand (and likely still do not to its fullest extent) until now. So, as family, we stop in our tracks. We honor Mark and all of you. The STANDING OVATION given the cadets and new cadets at Fourth of July concert carries through the entire gray line- all the way up to Mark!

Aside: We live in Sanibel FL, and I know local beachfront hotel owners who have provided complimentary stays to soldiers and families. If your family needs or would appreciate time together to celebrate Mark at some point in the future, please contact me. I would be happy to try to arrange.
