Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Jim Morin on July 13, 2009:
The first thing you noticed when you met Mark was the way he spoke. His accent wasn't strong or harsh, he didn't sound like he was from the backwoods or the middle-of-nowhere, but it was genteel and, in the hustle-and-bustle of the beginning of a new academic year at West Point, his accent reminded you of a cool summer breeze. Never harried, always deliberate and even contemplative. Running into him at Bragg in later years, you'd smile just to see him, because spending a moment with Mark was like spending a moment on a relaxing Carolina night: contented, wholesome and fun. Peaceful. I regret that he hasn't had much peace in these last few years, but trust that he will enjoy the eternal peace he has earned for himself and pray that his family will receive a measure of that solace in the time to come.
Respectfully,
Jim Morin Company A-2 USMA '01
