Be Thou At Peace

Posted by CPT Rudy D. Placencia on December 2, 2005:

I met Jim when we were both LT's at Fort Benning, GA. Coincidentally, we were both Branch detailed Transportation Corps officers, both were injured while at Benning and ironically, while deployed in Iraq we had the exact same job. Jim, was my replacement, I was the Gun Truck Platoon leader with 1st CAV in Rustimiyah and when I heard Jim and his "Security Platoon" were taking over for myself and my soldiers I was at ease knowing that such an important mission was being passed on to such a capable person. He took over my room, my truck, and the roads I travelled on a daily basis, and I can't express enough thanks to he and his men for the work they did and are doing. I send my deepest condolences to his family and spouse for their loss. The last person I saw when I flew out of Camp Cuervo (Rustimiyah) was Jim, and he was smiling.

Sincerely & Repsectfully,
Rudy D. Placencia
