Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Kathy Lynn on September 25, 2005:

Valerie and Keith,
I found out about Laura's death this past weekend while at WP. LTG Lennox mentioned her by name while speaking to the Class of '75. I felt such a deep sadness. Then I started smiling, remembering all of those wonderful Merritt Road days when Laura was in kindergarden.

Maura and I shared many sweet memories of her at the Memorial Service during the reunion. Maura laughed at how she was a true leader even way back then. We remembered how Brian, James, John S and John L were not the most easily led group--despite all of Laura's best efforts. Remember the bicycle parade?

What a wonderful young woman she became and I am struck by the mark she left on the world in her way too brief life. She has left all who knew and loved her with so many memories. Memories that will be with those she left behind forever.

Clark and I were able to go to her grave and, I won't lie, it was an incredibly sad moment. I know you both are incredibly strong and I am hoping that strength gets you through this difficult time.

Hugs,
Kathy
