Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Bethany Clawson on March 11, 2009:
Dan,
I didn't know you until our last semester at West Point when I worked on Reg staff with you but that was all it took to make a lasting impression. Coming to formation you always had a smile on your face and no matter how bad a day looked you always had a way of putting it into perspective and turning the outlook into a positive one. I'll never forget when we were all standing, ready to walk onto the parade field, and my tar bucket chain just fell off - yeah, still don't know why it did that - and you turned around and go "holy crap we have to stop the parade!" Haha, that didn't happen, I ended up stuffing most of the chain into the hat itself and we still went out and paraded stellar, as always, but looking back it was pretty funny and just one of the many laughs we all had. It was a priviledge to know you, to work for you, and to serve with you. You were an exceptional man gifted in so much and had a tremendous impact on everyone you met. You will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Dan. You'll always be in our hearts.
