To the Goeke family, I am very sorry for your loss. At West Point, Christopher and I only spoke a few times, but I remember him well; his reputation as a hard worker, leader, and good person always preceeded him. I feel a connection to Chris as a graduate, an Infantry Officer, an Army Ranger, and, most importantly, a leader of Soldiers in the defense of our country. These brotherhoods are unique and only fully understood by their members. They bring out the best in us despite the toughest challenges. From what I learned about Chris, this fit him perfectly. He was truly a person who sought these challenges, always willingly shouldering great burdens to help others. I feel a great sadness at his passing, but our school, country and Army are all much better for knowing him. He will always be remembered. God bless Christopher, your family and his soldiers. A truly remarkable man! |
