Be Thou At Peace

| I knew Chris only as an acquaintance at West Point. My impression was, here is an admirable guy. I will never forget hearing him speak about his Christian faith at Fort Benning in 2008. I was deployed in 2013 to Ghazni Province where the observation post by our base was named OP Goeke, in honor of Chris. Sometime later, while serving in the Reserves at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, I met an NCO in our unit who served under Chris. He spoke in glowing term of Chris's leadership and bravery. Chris truly impacted him through his courage and devotion. He was a great man who laid down his life for his friends and his country. I pray that his example would inspire many and move other young men and women to put their trust in the Lord Jesus, the ultimate King whom Chris served. I am thankful to have known him. |
