Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mr. Carlos del Castillo on July 1, 2011:

Dimitri, I have always enjoyed your pleasant smile, funny laugh, great attitude and joy of life. Your desire to enjoy the most of every experience and take things to another level has always impressed me. I must tell you I have learned much by having you as a son and watching you mature. You did not teach me these things directly but I learned them as a father raising you. Things that all of us should take to heart. You taught me to enjoy everyday to the fullest. You taught me to not be judgemental. You taught me to avoid being being petty. You taught me to have honor and integrity. You have been called the golden boy because everything went your way. All your life we have been amazed at how positively things have turned out for you. Amazingly even your death occurred in way which gave you honor. The greatest gift you have given me as a father has been what I have learned from your men who have spoken with me. Yes they were proud of you as their PL and praised you as a leader, not only on the battlefield but off as well. They told me you led them to pray and got men to go to church on Sunday. That you led by example and on the night before your mission one of your men came to your room only to find you kneeling and praying the rosary. Dimitri you led men in a direction that made them have better lives and they will always remember you for the way you carried yourself. I thank you for being my son and look forward to walking with you again one day at our agreed upon rendezvous point. Love Dad
