Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Carlos & Catherine del Castillo on February 23, 2011:

The 2009 class motto: For your Freedom and Mine.

Daren, thanks for being a fine American and defending our freedom. My son, Lt. Dimitri del Castillo introduced me to Daren when they where both Yuks. What I remember was, Daren was extremely likeable and upbeat. Great sense of humor. Fills out the uniform well.
What I did not know at the time was how close he, Dimitri and Lt. Katie Pulliam our future daughter in law would become through the years. We clearly remember how excited Daren was to be joining us at the party celebrating Dimitri and his buds making it through Ranger school. Daren was cracking jokes and having a great time when the Ranger school stories were shared. Daren, Katie and Dimitri are all Class of 2009. They will be bonded as friends forever.

We pray for Daren and his family. His passing hits very close to home. Catherine and I are admittedly openly crying and are so sad to lose this young man. Please know we are with the Hildago family in spirit and extend our love and prayers.

Daren, God has you home with Him. Pray for your fellow comrades.
