Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Donna Griego on February 26, 2011:

1st Lt Daren M Hidalgo, what an amazing young man you were. What a terrible blow to our nation to have you taken from us. It breaks my heart knowing that you gave up all your tomorrows, so that I and those I love might live in freedom today. Such bright tomorrows, full of promise and laughter and success, lain upon the altar of freedom. It is my solemn prayer that everyone in this nation would come to understand the price at which his or her daily freedoms are purchased. I am so very grateful for your willingness to stand in the gap on my behalf, that I might sleep in peace, and enjoy this great country, and raise my children in safety and security. I am so very sorry that your willingness to so stand has cost you your life. I can do nothing to change this, but I can remember you, and I can promise to always remember the great and terrible price paid for the freedoms that I so often take for granted. I can also promise to do my best to live my life in a manner worthy of that sacrifice. God bless and keep you Daren Hidalgo. Your presence here will be missed. God be always with those who loved you and with those who followed you. God keep them always. Rest in peace
