Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Harry C. Bruner, Jr. on May 9, 2012:
the dead and wounded came chiefly from the best and the bravest." Field Marshall Lord Carver, 1962.
Of all griefs, perhaps the heaviest cross to carry is THE VISIT...the death of a child when war reverses the course of nature.
May God comfort and give His divine peace to the extended Rylander family in this time of sorrow. As your son took care of his men, the West Point family gives your warrior and family a very slow hand salute. Thank you for raising a son willing to answer the call of duty for the nation and make the ultimate sacrifice with his boots on at the tip of spear.
"They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and agow. They were staucnch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, not the years condemn. As the going down of the sun and the morning We will remember them.... To the end, to the end, they remain." Laurence Binyon, "For the Fallen", 1914
For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised impersihable, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 15:52
With deepest sympathy, I'll listen to Gary Owen and raise one to your warrior and all who have fallen. David, RIP good and faithful servant.
